Looking Glass - The GODS - 1968 acetate
This is a 45 rpm acetate single of the ultimate track 'Looking Glass' from the Gods' first long playing record of 1968, GENESIS.
This aceate is different from the original in that it omits the final halogen gas influenced voices at the tail end, hence its 4 minutes 7 seconds running time.
A splendid find I am sure you will agree.
Some of you will notice the similarity with the early seventies progressive outfit Uriah Heep (Ken Hensley's vocals), links also with Rare Bird and Toe Fat.

The LP mix varied depending whether mono or stereo -forget which way around -but ony one had the (fairly annoying to me) overdubbed links.. Sort of Red Krayola ish. This is probably as per the link free edition -a great find anyway

What they didn't mention is that the song is essentially a new arrangement of Wimple Winch's "There's Not One Thing." Did the members of The Gods write the song but not record it until 1967, or is it plagiarism?
